- Organic Lavender Lip Balm Recipe
This organic lavender lip balm recipe came from a small kids’ magazine picked up for free at a Swiss supermarket, tweaked slightly after a daughter decided she didn’t love jojoba oil.
Winter is when lips get dry and chapped. This DIY all organic lavender lip balm recipe is the perfect solution for those cracked lips.
Living in Switzerland means dealing with extreme winters. With winter comes dry and chapped lips, and genuine fatigue from buying all those expensive organic chap sticks. It was time to make one at home instead — this all-natural organic lavender lip balm recipe was the result. This chap stick saves real money, and it’s all natural too.

All Natural Lip Balm
A small family must have bought a few dozen lip balms by now for the heavy Swiss winters, so it was time to properly account for the cost. Only organic, all-natural lip balms have ever been the standard here, and that comes with a hefty price tag — a good quality chap stick easily runs Fr. 6.- in Switzerland. Rather than digging that deep into the family’s pockets repeatedly, making body care products at home became the more sensible option some time ago.
There’s also the ongoing hassle of checking ingredient lists every time a switch in brands feels necessary while shopping. An earlier post shared an All Natural Whipped Body Butter recipe, with almost identical ingredients aside from the beeswax. This simple DIY lip balm follows that same all-organic approach.

Only 4 ingredients are needed for this all-natural organic lavender lip balm — equal parts cocoa butter, beeswax, and coconut oil, with lavender essential oil added for scent.
The original recipe called for jojoba oil, but since a daughter didn’t love its smell, coconut oil was swapped in instead. The recipe itself came from a small kids’ magazine, one of those freely handed out at supermarkets and post offices around here.
How to Make Lavender Lip Balm
Ingredients List
- 2 tbsp cocoa butter
- 2 tbsp coconut oil
- 2 tbsp beeswax pellets
- 25–30 drops lavender oil
Cooking Instructions
Melt Everything Together:
Place all ingredients in a small glass bowl. A chocolate melting pot works well here, or a double boiler if you have one.
Stir Often:
Melt all the ingredients, stirring often.
Add the Essential Oil:
Once all the fat has melted, add in the lavender essential oil.
Fill the Tubes:
Use a pipette to fill the empty lip balm tubes, or pour directly if your container has an easy pouring lip.
Work Quickly:
Fill the tubes swiftly, since beeswax thickens fast and becomes difficult to pour.
Set:
Let them harden, or set them in the refrigerator for about half an hour.
