June Garden Vegetables & Harvest
There has been a lot going on in our garden. This post will feature most of our June garden vegetables for this year. After the summer storms which our garden escaped without too much damage it has come to a normal period of growth.

My husband worked on making new steps from the other side of the road to the property. It does look nice and we use those stairs too. He toiled a whole day to finish this project which took a back seat for the past year or so. After working a few days on the video I could upload my June 2018 Garden tour.
Strawberry Harvest
We could harvest a lot of tasty strawberries for almost 3 weeks. At the peak of the strawberry season we harvested almost 500 gm of strawberries on a daily basis. I had my cousins visiting me from California and we could offer them a taste of our strawberries.
I also made some strawberry ice creams. So much more tastier than store bought ones. Fresh from the garden to plate a whole new world of taste buds do really open up.
June Garden Vegetables
Zucchini and Rubharbs
We harvested Zucchinis and Rubharbs. We planted fresh lettuce, green chillies and fennels.
Our neighbour was kind enough to give us a whole bunch of chillies as he had too many plants and we were happy to recieve them as we didn’t plant enough. I usually freeze the excess till the next season.
Our Creeper Vegetables
Only a few of our Indian vegetables like Okra, snake gourd and bitter melon survived. We planted the seeds and kept them inside our guest bathroom with special plant lights and when the saplings reached a certain height we planted them outside.
Red Currants / Johanisbeer
We had a good yield of Red currants which I made into jam. This way we have our garden in a jar for longer period. Videos coming up on preserving your summer garden for the winter.
Red Currants
The peas and tomatoes are doing well. A snap shot on them. Peas can be harvested soon and we did have one bunch already.
To gain some privacy at the crossroads on the slope we planted some sweet corn. I just hope the horses which passby don’t devour them up. Last year there was one particular horse which stopped by to eat our grass and bushes. It saved us the trouble of cutting them by the slope but this year will be a different game. We have to keep the horses literally away from this area.
